crackling ambiance + modern look
Discover the unique charms of wooden wicks: while offering a distinctive look and cozy ambience, these wicks require special care and attention. Keep in mind that their natural, untreated wood composition may result in some subtle variations in their thickness and grain.
let's start with the basics!
1. On each burn (especially the first burn), allow the wax to fully melt to the edge of the tin.
2. Before each burn, trim the wick to 1/8" - 3/16” to allow the wax to capillary up the wick to feed the flame properly.
3. Do not burn the candle for longer than 4 hours at a time and stop burning when 1/2” of wax remains.
hot tips
#1 When lighting, hold your lighter for a few seconds to give enough fuel to the wick.
#2 If you accidentally trimmed the wick too short, use a butter knife to scrape out some wax directly underneath the wick and relight.
#3 Your wick may struggle to stay lit if your candle starts to tunnel. Try the aluminum foil method to fix tunneling:
■ Trim the wick and remove any debris from the tunnel.
■ Cover the top of the candle with aluminum foil and make a small opening (around 1") in the center.
■ Remove the aluminum foil, light the wick, then place the foil cover back on. This increases the heat trapped at the top of the candle and melt the rim of hard wax on the sides. Keeping your candle in eye sight at all times, allow the candle to burn until the top surface of wax has completely melted and reset.
#4 A thin layer of wax "hang-up" on the edge of the tin is normal. This will melt down and correct itself by the halfway point in the tin.
#5 The tin may become hot when candle is lit – especially as it reaches the bottom half of the tin.
