Don't let your candlelight become a hazard! Follow below guidelines or check out our comprehensive guide: candle care & safety.
■ When lighting your candle for the first time, allow the top of the wax to melt completely. This will prevent tunneling in the future!
■ Always trim your wick to about 1/8" - 3/16" before each use. You can use a wick trimmer, nail clipper, or simply pinch off the burnt bits at the top with your fingers (once the candle has cooled down).
■ Keep your wax free from dust and debris! Make sure to keep the lid on when not in use and remove any wick trimmings from the tin. It's a simple way to extend the life of your candle.ㅤ
■ Keep your candle out of drafty areas like hallways, windows, and fireplaces.

Get the most out of your wooden wick candles with these simple maintenance tips. While delicate compared to cotton wicks, they're totally worth the extra care and patience!
■ Always allow enough time for the wax to melt to the edge of the tin before blowing out.
■ Maximize the life of your candle by keeping your wick trimmed to about 1/8" - 3/16” and removing any debris from previous use. All you need to do is pinch off the burnt bits at the top with your fingers (once the candle has cooled down), or use a handy tool like a nail clipper or wick trimmer. This is important because the flame needs a clear path to draw the wax up through the wick. A clean and trimmed wick will ensure a steady and efficient burn every time.
■ Do not burn the candle for longer than 4 hours at a time and if there’s only ¼” of wax remaining, it's time for a new candle!
Candle tunneling is a common issue that stems from not allowing the candle enough time to fully melt to the edges. This results in a solid wall of wax around the inside of the tin and can cause the wick to drown in a pool of melted wax, shortening burn-time. Tunneling is a common problem that can occur to any candle and thankfully, there are a few ways to fix this to ensure that your candle burns evenly and efficiently, leaving as little residual wax as possible. We recommend the following aluminum foil method:
■ Trim the wick and remove any debris from the tunnel.
■ Cover the top of the candle with aluminum foil and make a small opening (around 1") in the center.
■ Remove the aluminum foil, light the wick, then place the foil cover back on. This increases the heat trapped at the top of the candle and melt the rim of hard wax on the sides. Keeping your candle in eye sight at all times, allow the candle to burn until the top surface of wax has completely melted and reset.
Please note, it's totally normal to see a small amount of waxes clinging to the sides of the tin with our coconut soy wax. As you enjoy your candle and burn it down to the bottom, the heat will naturally melt those sides all the way down.
